The artist duo “Herakut” consists of the two artists “Hera” and “Akut” who merged their names and styles in 2004. “Hera” is the graffiti identy of Jasmin Siddiqui, born and raised in Frankfurt Main, and her part of the duo´s work is the conceptual side, the sketching and all text work. “Akut” is the name Falk Lehmann from Schmalkalden chose 1991 when he started his graffiti career and founded the renown crew “MaClaim” who specialized on photorealistic graffiti and painted countless murals all over the world – a tradition “Herakut” held up for the past 10 years. Their first book “Herakut – The Perfect Merge” comprises the work on the street and inside galleries from 2004 until 2008. Their second book “After The Laughter” shows the develpment of the two from 2009 until 2011. It surely is time for a 3rd book.
More than half of Herakut´s work is dedicated to charity causes. In 2014 and 2015 the main focus was on support children in need, whether in a home for abused children homes in Frankfurt, in a Syrian refugee camp in the Jordanian desert, in a school for disabled kids in Lippstadt, in an orphanage for Palestinian refugees in Bethlehem, in the immigrant´s asylum “Bayernkaserne” in Munich and teenagers from a drug-rehab program in Miami. All these experiences inspire the minds and paintings of Herakut and are indeed some sort of therapy for their own souls.
